Online Wearable Art Techniques Workshops using reclaimed materials
Join award winning Wearable Artist and Bespoke Costumier Kirsten Fletcher on an interactive Zoom workshop, and be introduced to techniques to inspire your wearable arts practice or entry into the Australian Wearable Arts Festival. Using reclaimed fabric to begin the process of exploration, open yourself to an exciting world of possibilities. Kirsten will be sharing several of her design processes with you through the two workshops.
This workshop is offered by Sunshine Coast Council’s Fabric, Slow Fashion | Artful Living whilst the full program is on hold due to social distancing.
Part 1 : Gathering and pleating for texture
Learn how some simple techniques used by many couture houses can be applied to create beautiful texture in your work. Explore reclaimed materials to produce a unique look.

Part 2 : Weaving
Be introduced to the art of weaving and how this can be applied to a garment or wearable art form. Discover how it can be used as inspiration for a design. Learn how to take this traditional technique to a new level with reclaimed materials.
